Abstract The invention disclosed relates to a cable-cutting device for cutting a cable under tension. The device is intended for use in conjunc- tion with aircraft, particularly helicopters to provide reasonable protec- tion to the rotor mast assembly, from cable strikes. The novel device comprises a pair of co-acting cable-cutting edges arranged at a suitable angle to produce a wedge-like mechanical advantage to at least partially cut a cable so that the cable will fail under moderate tension.
