CABLE FITTING WITH VARIABLE INNER DIAMETER GROMMET ASSEMBLY Abstract A cable fitting which secures and provides strain relief for a cable passing therethrough is capable of use with a wide range of cable diameters. A grommet through which the cable extends is disposed within the fitting body and compressed by a nut through which the cable also extends and has an insert of an elastomeric material and also having a passage through which the cable can extend which is removably disposed in the grommet and is in an interlocking relationship with the grommet so that the insert does not appreciably move axially with respect to the grommet when the cable is pulled against the fitting. The interlocking relationship is provided by flanges on the ends of the insert overlapping opposite ends of the grommet with annular ridges at predetermined axial spacings from the flanges around the outer periphery of the insert with a corresponding set of annular grooves on the inner periphery of the grommet.
