Abstract A cable guidance or fairleading device is described in which a plurality of cable support flights are interconnected end to end to form an endless chain which rotates around a curved bearing track, on a plurality of roller bearings. Each support flight is provided with side thrust bearings which cooperate with the side shields of the track. The cable contacting surface of the flight is preferably shaped to receive the cable so that it is supported without relative movement therebetween. This sytem is particularly useful for delicate electromechanical cables such as a towed sonar array but also finds application to save space in a conventional turning sheave environment.
