A cable lead-in (1) comprises an upper part (2) and a lower part (3). The upper part and the lower part (2, 3) are clamped together by means of a threaded joint in an opening (7) in a wall (6) on a casing around current conductors (non shown), which are connected via an electric cable (11) to other current conductors (not shown) outside the casing. The upper part (2) is formed with a through duct (10), which has an outer funnel-shaped duct section (12) and an inner threaded section (13). A seat (14) for a sealing ring (15) is formed between these two sections. A nipple (16) having a strain relief strap (20) is screwed into the threaded section (13), whereby the sealing ring (15) is pressed sealingly against both the seat (14) and the cable (11). The funnel-shaped duct section (12) serves to protect the cable (11) against damage by bending in operation. The nipple (16) has hexagonal head (18), and at least one of a plurality of blind holes (21) in the upper part (2) accommodates a self-tapping screw (23) whose head is spaced closely from one of the faces of the hexagonal nipple head (18). This protects the nipple (16) against rotation, which might cause the passage of the cable (11) through the sealing ring (15) to become non-tight. All the components of the cable lead-in (1) are well protected behind the wall (6) of the casing, while only a relatively low flange (8) on the upper part (2) is present on the outer side of said wall. In practice, this flange cannot be broken off or offer a foothold to a person who might try to stand on the flange.
