A cable lock having a flexible shackle with a first end rigidly attached to one end of a lock barrel and a second end releasably secured in the opposite end of the lock barrel. A latching cylinder within the lock barrel rotationally engages a latching spool on the second end of the flexible shackle to secure the shackle within thebarrel. The configuration of a slot on the latching cylinder, in combination with locking groove on the end of the flexible shackle, ensures that the shackle is held securely within the lock barrel through engagement along 3 sides.
