The cable support block has an arcuate frame having two spaced-apart legs defining an opening therebetween with an elongated coil spring bridging the opening in its unstressed, closed position, the coil spring being attached at its first end to a single one of the frame legs. The upper portion of the frame defines a yoke allowing the support block to rest on an upper cable spacedly supported over ground. The lower portion of the frame rotatably carries an idle roller on which a lower cable being installed or stringed can rest. To insert a cable into the arcuate frame, the cable is forcibly abutted against the coil spring which will resiliently yield to allow access into the arcuate frame by being inwardly deformed. A shoulder is located on the frame leg opposite the one where the coil spring is attached. The shoulder prevents accidental release of the cables trapped inside the arcuate frame by preventing outward displacement of the coil spring second end portion. The coil spring second end portion may alternately be resiliently moved around the shoulder, to allow outward deformation of the coil spring, so that the cables located inside the arcuate frame may be retrieved from therein. The support block is especially useful in combination with a telescopic pole, which allows distal handling of the support block from ground level for installation and removal thereof.

L'invention concerne un bloc de support de câble avec une ossature en forme d'arc comportant deux branches espacées qui définissent une ouverture entre elle, et un ressort hélicoïdal allongé reliant l'ouverture dans sa position fermée, sans contrainte. Ce ressort est fixé au niveau de sa première extrémité à une seule des branches. La partie supérieure de l'ossature a la forme d'un étrier permettant au bloc de reposer sur un câble supérieur supporté au dessus du sol. La partie inférieure de l'ossature supporte, en vue de sa rotation, un galet fou sur lequel peut reposer un câble inférieur. Pour insérer un câble dans l'ossature en forme d'arc, ce câble est poussé en butée contre le ressort hélicoïdal dont l'élasticité permet à l'ossature de se déformer vers l'intérieur pour assurer l'accès dans l'intérieur du bloc. Un épaulement est prévu sur la branche située en regard de celle sur laquelle est fixé le ressort. Cet épaulement évite tout relâchement accidentel des câbles bloqués à l'intérieur de l'ossature en forme d'arc en empêchant tout déplacement vers l'extérieur de la deuxième partie d'extrémité du ressort hélicoïdal. Cette deuxième partie d'extrémité peut être déplacée de manière élastique autour de l'épaulement pour permettre la déformation vers l'extérieur du ressort, de telle sorte que les câbles placés à l'intérieur de l'ossature peuvent être sortis de cette dernière. Ce bloc de support est particulièrement utile en association avec une canne télescopique pour permettre de manipuler à distance le bloc de support à partir du sol afin de l'installer et de le retirer.
