A method of forming a seal between a tubular cable outlet projecting from a joint enclosure (1) and a cable (21) passing through the cable outlet into the enclosure (1) in which a heat-recoverable sleeve (11) is shrunk around the cable (21) and the cable outlet (7, 8, 9); an electrically conductive, guard sleeve (13) is placed around the heat-recoverable sleeve (11) so that it substantially surrounds it and extends beyond each of its ends. The cable (21) sealed to the joint enclosure (1) can be used within a zone 1 hazardous environment, for example in a sewer. The guard sleeve (13) is preferably of stainless steel, so as to resist attack by rodents as well as enabling the joint enclosure (1) to meet zone-1 explosion-resistance requirements when the cable includes power supply conductors, for instance for powering electronic communication equipment within the enclosure (1).
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de former un joint d'étanchéité entre une sortie tubulaire de câble se projetant à l'extérieur d'une enveloppe de joint (1) et un câble (21) passant à travers la sortie de câble dans l'enveloppe (1) dans laquelle une gaine thermorétractable (11) est rétractée autour du câble (21) et de la sortie de câble (7, 8, 9). Une gaine de garde (13) électroconductrice est placée autour de la gaine thermorétractable (11) de façon qu'elle l'entoure sensiblement en se projetant au delà de chacune de ses extrémités. Le câble (21) scellé de façon étanche à l'enveloppe (1) de joint peut être utilisé dans un environnement dangereux de zone 1, par exemple dans des égouts. Cette gaine de garde (13) est de préférence en acier inoxydable, de façon à résister aux attaques des rongeurs de même que pour permettre à l'enveloppe de joint (1) d'atteindre les exigences de résistance à l'explosion de zone 1 lorsque le câble inclut des conducteurs électriques, par exemple pour alimenter des équipements de communication électroniques dans l'enveloppe.
