ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cable winding device for a cable fixed at both ends, in particular a telephone cable, with a storage space for the cable, which is guided in the area of an outlet opening via an operating pulley provided with a circumferential groove and working in conjunction with at least one pressure roller, characterized by the operating pulley forming in conjunction with a spring which is capable of being pre-stressed as the cable is drawn out, whilst the latter can be held or stopped in the drawn-out position by means of a stopping device which can be operated by means of the cable.
