The invention concerns an optocoupler. The optocoupler includes a substrate made of optically opaque electrically insulating material metallized to provide conductive traces on a top surface thereof which are electrically linked to metal pads on a bottom surface. A cadmium sulfoselenide photoresistor having an active surface is placed over the substrate with the active surface facing the substrate where the photoresistor has two electrodes. Metal leads connect each of the two electrodes of the photoresistor to two metallized traces on the substrate. A light emitting diode (LED) chip is mounted on the substrate facing the active surface of the photoresistor. The LED chip has a top and bottom electrode, where the bottom electrode is electrically attached to a third metallized trace and the top electrode is wire bonded to a fourth metallized trace. A cover made of optically opaque material is fixed to the substrate so as to enclose the photoresistor and the LED chip in a light tight enclosure. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the photoresistor and the LED chip can lie side by side and be in optical communication with each other through a reflective coating on the inside of the cover.
Cette invention a trait à un optocoupleur. L'optocoupleur comprend un substrat constitué d'une matière optiquement opaque procurant une isolation électrique, métallisé de manière à fournir des tracés conducteurs vers une couche de surface électriquement reliée à des tampons métalliques sur la face inférieure. Une cellule photoconductrice de sulfosélénure de cadmium dotée d'une surface active est placée par-dessus le substrat, la surface active faisant face au substrat, la cellule photoconductrice étant pourvue de deux électrodes. Des fils métalliques relient chacune des deux électrodes de la cellule photoconductrice aux surfaces métallisées du substrat. Une puce de diode électroluminescente (DEL) est montée sur le substrat face à la surface active de la cellule photoconductrice. La puce DEL comporte une électrode sur le dessus et une électrode sur le dessous, l'électrode du dessous étant électriquement reliée à un troisième tracé métallique, et l'électrode de dessus étant reliée par un fil à un quatrième tracé métallique. Un couvercle fait d'une matière optiquement opaque est fixé au substrat de manière à encapsuler la cellule photoconductrice et la puce DEL dans une enceinte à l'épreuve de la lumière. Dans une variante, la cellule photoconductrice et la puce DEL peuvent être placées côte à côte et être optiquement reliées l'une à l'autre par l'intermédiaire d'un revêtement réfléchissant à l'intérieur du couvercle.
