ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention is concerned with a cadmium telluride radiation detector which is provided with contacts consisting of a cathode formed of electrochemically deposited platinum on an etched cadmium telluride monocrystal surface, and an anode formed of aluminum evaporated in vacuum onto an electrically insulating layer covering a surface portion of the cadmium telluride monocrystal. The advantages of the detector according to the invention are the reduction of the leakage current, improvement of the noise characteristics due to the lower leakage current and the ability to maintain a high electric field in a large depletion region providing high efficiency and resolution the high field suppresses polarization.
