In the sugarcraft industry bridgeless extension is typically accomplished by piping strings of royal icing from the side surface of the cake extending outward onto a bridge of piped royal icing, using pins. The piped bridge is removed by dissolving it with a dampened brush. The tool is designed to eliminate the creation of the piped royal icing bridge. It consists of a specially designed wire frame which is inserted into the cake and onto which the strings are piped. The tool is removed after the strings are dried leaving the piped strings suspended from the cake in various patterns and at various angles.
