ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A calcium carbonate, especially a natural calcium carbonate, is disclosed, which contains 50 to 70% by weight of par- ticles smaller than 1 micron, less than 10 percent of par- ticles smaller than 0.2 microns, and a BET specific surface area of less than 10 m2/g. This calcium carbonate can be used especially as a high-solids coating pigment for gravure printing.
