ABSTRACT Calibration of crane safe load indicating arrangements in which loading relative to a maximum safe loading is given by comparing a first signal representing actual crane loading with a second, computed signal representing the crane's maximum loading capacity for its current configuration and mode of operation. The calibration is effected for each configuration specified in the crane's rating tables for each mode of operating by adding to the first signal's calibration signal representing the maximum safe loading for the configuration and then adjusting a law generator unit for the mode, under no-load conditions, to obtain equality between the first and second signals.
