An cam adjusting device (30) comprises a first and second element sliding reciprocally and a cam (32) pivoted to the first element by means of a pivot (33) rotating around an axis (48) to react with one of its lateral surfaces (35, 38) against a bearing surface (34, 37) on the second element, upon rotation of the cam around the axis thereby achieving sliding and adjustment of the reciprocal position of the first and second element. The cam is shaped so that, for any angular position of the cam in its active stroke the centre of rotation of the cam is substantially in the region of a straight line (41) passing through a point (36) of contact between a lateral surface of the cam and a bearing surface of the second element, said straight line being slanted at an angle ~ identical to the angle of friction in the point of contact. A cam meeting this condition has been found maximize the amplitude of the adjustment without encountering instability. Using cam adjusting device (30), iron fittings, such as hinges, are easy to make.
Un dispositif d'ajustement à came (30) comprend un premier et un deuxième élément coulissant de façon réciproque et une came (32) pivotant par rapport au premier élément au moyen d'un pivot (33) tournant autour d'un axe (48) pour réagir avec l'une de ses surfaces latérales (35, 38) contre une surface d'appui (34, 37) sur le deuxième élément, lorsque la came tourne autour de l'axe et entraîne le coulissement et l'ajustement de la position réciproque du premier et du deuxième élément. La came est façonnée de manière que, pour toute position angulaire de la came dans sa course active, le centre de rotation de la came est substantiellement dans le secteur d'une ligne droite (41) passant par un point (36) de contact entre une surface latérale de la came et une surface d'appui du deuxième élément, ladite ligne droite étant inclinée à un angle ~ identique à l'angle de frottement au point de contact. On a constaté qu'une came répondant à cette exigence maximise l'amplitude de l'ajustement sans qu'il en résulte d'instabilité. En utilisant le dispositif d'ajustement à came (30), il est facile de fabriquer des ferrures telles que des charnières.
