ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes an envelope stacking system which includes means defining an envelope feed path, transporting means disposed along the feed path for feeding envelopes in vertical orientation in seriatim to a stacking deck, a stacking deck for supporting a stack of vertically oriented envelopes with the deck having means defining an inlet window, defined in part by a guide wall having a angle bend, driving means adjacent the guide wall for receiving incoming envelopes and thrusting them along the guide wall toward a rear portion of the guide wall to cause the incoming envelopes to bend to conform to the angle bend of the guide wall and oscillating camming means disposed adjacent and coaxially with the driving means for moving a newly received envelope against the stack of envelopes and holding the newly received envelope against the stack until a subsequent envelope is transported to the stacking deck and approaches the inlet window. The system also includes biasing means supported by the deck for biasing the stack of envelopes toward the driving means.
