ABSTRACT: A camshaft comprising a shaft of steel and a plurality of fitting members made of sintered alloy. The fitting member is loosely mounted in position on the shaft through a loosely fitting engagement between a projection in the bore of the fitting member and a groove formed on the outer periphery of the shaft before being sintered and then sintered at a liquid-phase yielding temperature, whereby the outer periphery of the shaft and the inner periphery of the fitting member are fully circumferentially joined with each other except the groove and the projection which are loosely coupled and free from stress-concentration.
