A B S T R A C T This invention consists of a new type of valve con- struction for internal combustion engines. Each of these valves is made of a thick circular metal disc, the rim of which is smooth and at right angles to the face. At one location on its perimeter, the disc is provided with a cavity which is partly in the face and partly in the rim. The valves rotate on a common shaft which is activated by the usual timing gears from the crankshaft. The valves are located directly above the top of the cylinders, so that their rims make contact with, and cover the intake and exhaust openings in the combustion chambers, when the valves are closed. However, when the cavity of the valve is directly above an opening, contact is made between the combustion chamber, and the valves are considered to be in an open position. Rotation to the valve-shaft is provided by timing gears from the crankshaft. A variation in the design of the valves consists of the cavity being provided centrally and entirely at one location in the rim.
