ABSTRACT A device for crushing thin walled beverage containers which includes an elongate base member having an elongate handle pivotally attached thereto at a position spaced from a pair of spaced can supporting members on the base plate. The spaced apart members projecting outwardly from the base member and, at least during the final phase of crushing a can, the handle passes therebetween. A plate is secured to the handle and abuts against the end of a can on said cradle. The plate preferrably has opposite side edges that slopw in conformity with sloping faces on the can supporting members.
