A can opener has two relatively pivotable body portions (1, 2), one carrying a rotary cutting wheel (8) and the other a rotary traction wheel (12) having parallel axes, the opener being arranged to receive the rim (R) of a can (C) between the two wheels and to orbit the can as the traction wheel is rotated while the cutting wheel makes a peripheral cut, the traction wheel (12) being shaped to distort the rim during cutting and the cutting wheel (8) having an outwardly angled body portion (10c, 10d), adjacent its cutting tip (10a, 10b), the angled body portion being adapted to contact the outside of the rim below the cut to exert a force in the opposite direction to the traction wheel (12).
L'invention a pour objet un ouvre-boîtes. Ce dernier comporte deux parties (1,2) pouvant pivoter l'une par rapport à l'autre, une partie supportant une roue de coupe rotative (8) et l'autre partie supportant une roue de traction rotative (12), dont les axes sont parallèles. L'ouvre-boîtes est conçu pour loger le rebord (R) d'une boîte (C) entre les deux roues et pour faire tourner la boîte lors de la rotation de la roue de traction tandis que la roue de coupe effectue une coupe périphérique. La roue de traction (12) présente une forme assurant la déformation du rebord pendant l'opération de coupe, et la roue de coupe (8) présente une partie (10c, 10d) formant un angle vers l'extérieur, adjacente à son bord de coupe (10a, 10b). Ladite partie formant un angle est adaptée pour entrer en contact avec l'extérieur du rebord, en dessous du niveau de coupe, pour exercer une force dans le sens opposé à la roue de traction (12).
