19 CAN SEAM COATING PROCESS AND APPARATUS ABSTRACT In a can body coating machine 2, the invention makes it possible to reduce the space needed for the post- treatment stage according to the state of the art, by using a coating material which hardens rapidly. In addition, the can body coating machine 2 is itself greatly simplified, as the coating material is handled in its untreated, basic form until just before the preparation unit 41, and only then is converted into a fluid state for coating. (Fig. 3)
