This invention is based on the discovery that the type II TGF.beta. receptor (RII) is a cancer suppressor gene which is genetically inactivated (mutated) in approximately 25 % of colon cancers, including nearly all colon cancers of the class identified as mutator/microsatellite instability/RER. Methods are provided for detecting inactivation of RII for use in cancer diagnosis or prognosis.
Invention basée sur la découverte du fait que le récepteur du facteur de croissance transformant béta TGF.beta. du type II (RII) est un gène suppresseur du cancer qui est génétiquement inactivé (mutés) dans près de 25 % des cancers du colon, dont presque tous les cancers du colon de la classe définie comme les cancers du type mutateur/les cancers à ADN microsatellites instables et les cancers à erreur de réplication (RER).
