The emergency candle lantern employs a candle as a light source, and comprises a lantern body, a hollow extending into the lantern body, candle mounting means arranged within the hollow, and light reflecting means within the hollow for directing the light external to the body. A handle is fixed to the exterior surface of the body which allows the lantern to be held so that the hollow is arranged horizontally allowing the lantern to be used similarly to a flash light. A storage container for matches, candles, and a gelatinous petroleum heat source is fixed to the outside of the lantern.
