The present invention is directed to a process for inserting a cannula (32) into a hub member (64). The process uses an interference or frictional fit between the bore (60) of the hub member (64) and a roughened portion of the cannula's exterior surface (28). In this manner, adhesives are not required in the assembly of the two components.
