ABSTRACT Concentrated canola phosphatides (lecithins) which are dehydrated to contain less than 1% water, about 60- 70% phosphatides and about 30-40% oil and preferably mixed with 10 to 50% of treated oil from which phosphatides have been removed have surprising properties of good film strength and lubricity at temperatures below 250°C and are suited for use as lubricants for gears, cutting oils, finishing oils and for use in oil base and water base drilling muds.
