CANTILEVERED FLEXIBLE SEGMENTAL SKIRT MEMBER FOR A GROUND EFFECT VEHICLE Abstract of the Disclosure A flexible skirt segment is adapted for attachment to a peripheral portion of a vehicle and cantilevers from the periphery. Such members can be used to contain a cushion of pressurized fluid for straight and curved portions of the vehicle or cushion periphery and particularly is applicable for concave or re-entrant portions. Members can be used to provide cushion containment for a hole through the hull of a vehicle, enabling a member to be passed down through the hole. In a re-entrant portion of a periphery, members in accordance with the invention readily deflect sideways on entry of a member, such as a ships bow, into the re-entrant portion. Cushion containment is retained and a good seal against the member is also obtained. Pushing forces by the entering member are effectively transferred to the vehicle structure through the skirt members. - i -
