A fabric (20) for reinforcement of canvasses having a plastic coating. The fabric (20) comprises a warp (22) and a weft (24) which form meshes having a maximum dimension ranging from 5 cm to 25 cm. At least one of the warp or the weft is formed by a strip (10) which comprises a matrix of a thermoplastic material (12) which is adherable to the plastic coating of the canvasses. This strip further comprises two or more elongated metal members (14). This strip has a cross-sectional average thickness ranging from 0.50 mm to 3.0 mm and a cross-sectional width ranging from 3 mm to 25 mm. The strip and the fabric allow to reinforce the canvass in a cheaply way without adding too much additional weights.

L'invention concerne un tissu (20) pour renforcer des grosses toiles, comportant un enduit de plastique. Ce tissu (20) comprend une chaîne (22) et une trame (24) qui forment des mailles dont les dimensions maximales se situent entre 5 et 25 cm. Au moins un élément parmi la chaîne ou la trame est constitué d'une bande (10) qui comprend une matrice d'un matériau thermoplastique (12) pouvant adhérer à l'enduit de plastique des toiles. Cette bande comporte, en outre, deux ou plusieurs éléments métalliques allongés (14). Cette bande présente une épaisseur moyenne en coupe transversale comprise entre 0,50 et 3,0 mm et une largeur en coupe transversale située entre 3 et 25 mm. La bande et le tissu permettent de renforcer la toile de manière peu onéreuse sans trop renforcer le poids.
