Disclosed is a cap for a dovetailed receiving rail of a handgun. Both sides of one of the two opposite surfaces of said cap are provided with one respective elongate engaging rail (3) while the cap can be deformed in a resilient manner. The two engaging rails approach each other in the unloaded state.
