This stopper for a water carboy comprises a top with a central opening to accommodate the outlet tube of a water cooler. It also comprises an outer skirt which covers the stopper when it is installed on the carboy. It also comprises an integral tubular sleeve above the stopper. this sleeve is coaxial to the central opening and extends in the same direction as the skirt in order to receive and guide the water outlet tube when the carboy is mounted on the water cooler. The height of the sleeve is more or less equal to the height of the skirt. This increases the void volume between the inner wall of the skirt and the sleeve, thereby enhancing the leak tightness of the stopper by increasing its capacity to collect the water from the carboy when it is removed from the water cooler. The bottom of the sleeve is preferably cone-shaped, with the point of the cone extending towards the opening at the top. This cone has breaking lines that will allow it to give way under pressure from the water outlet tube when the carboy is mounted on the water cooler. Also preferably, several flexible strips can be installed in the opening of the sleeve, so as to improve water tightness. The principal advantages of this stopper are its universal versatility and extremely high degree of water tightness in comparison with conventional types of stoppers.
Ce bouchon pour bonbonne d'eau comprend un dessus pourvu d'une ouverture centrale destinée à laisser passer le tube de sortie d'eau d'une fontaine distributrice. Il comprend également une jupe périphérique qui recouvre le bouchon lorsque celui-ci est installé sur la bonbonne. Il comprend enfin un manchon tubulaire intégral au-dessus du bouchon. Ce manchon est coaxial à l'ouverture centrale et s'étend dans la même direction que la jupe en vue de recevoir et de guider le tube de sortie d'eau lorsque la bonbonne est installée sur la fontaine. La hauteur de ce manchon est sensiblement égale à celle de la jupe. Ceci vient augmenter le volume mort entre la paroi interne de la jupe et le manchon et ainsi améliorer l'étanchéité du bouchon en augmentant la capacité de celui-ci à recueillir l'eau de la bonbonne lorsque celle-ci est retirée de la fontaine. De préférence, le fond du manchon a la forme d'un cône dont la pointe s'étend vers l'ouverture du dessus. Ce cône est pourvu de lignes de cassure de façon à lui permettre de se déchirer sous la pression du tube de sortie d'eau lorsque la bonbonne est installée sur la fontaine. De préférence également, plusieurs languettes flexibles peuvent être disposées dans l'ouverture du manchon, en vue d'améliorer l'étanchéité. Ce bouchon a pour principaux avantages d'être totalement versatile universel, et d'être de très bonne étanchéité à comparer aux bouchons de type connu.
