ABSTRACT A capacitive strain gauge has a basic unit with a capacitance electrode and a cover with the other capacitance electrode and spacers keeping them apart. The thickness of the material of the basic unit and the cover is such that when the strain gauge is loaded the distance between the capacitance electrodes is reduced without any bending of the material bridges formed between the spacers by compression of at least one of the materials from which the basic unit, the cover and the spacers are made.
