A medical diagnostic device for measuring an analyte concentration or property of a biological fluid includes capillary flow channels to convey a sample of the fluid from an inlet to a branching point, and then to a measurement area and , alternatively, through a bypass channel to an overflow region. A first stop junction stops fluid flow after it enters the measurement area. The bypass channel has a capillary dimension in at least one direction. A second stop junction, in the bypass channel, has a boundary region that has a dimension that is greater in that direction and forms an angle that points toward the branching point. With this construction, the second stop junction initially prevents flow to the overflow region, but permits the flow after the measurement area is filled. The device is particularly suited for measuring coagulation time of blood.

L'invention concerne un dispositif de diagnostic médical destiné à mesurer la concentration ou la propriété d'analytes d'un fluide biologique. Le dispositif comporte deux canaux d'écoulement capillaire servant à acheminer un échantillon du fluide d'une entrée à un point de branchement, puis à une zone de mesure et, éventuellement, à une zone de débordement par un canal de dérivation. Un premier raccordement d'arrêt bloque le fluide après son entrée dans la zone de mesure. Le canal de dérivation possède une dimension capillaire dans un sens au moins. Un second raccordement d'arrêt, dans le canal de dérivation, comporte une région frontière de dimension supérieure dans le même sens et forme un angle dirigé vers le point de branchement. Grâce à cette configuration, le second raccordement d'arrêt empêche initialement l'écoulement vers la zone de débordement, puis le permet après remplissage de la zone de mesure. Le dispositif est particulièrement adapté à la mesure du temps de coagulation du sang.
