2107565 9217764 PCTABS00016 A capillary rheometer including a plunger pressure transducer assembly (25) which contains a liquid metal fill capillary passage (14) therein. When the plunger (25) is urged downward onto the melted polymer (9), a diaphragm (22) at the end of the plunger senses the pressure within the melted polymer (9) and transmits this pressure to the liquid metal fill (21). An additional diaphragm (19) disposed in the opposite end of th e plunger pressure transducer assembly (25) senses this transmitted pressure within the liquid metal fill (9) for an accurate indication of the pressure therein.
