A capping device (10) for covering the access port (53) of a conduit connector (50) includes a first cap (20) having a downwardly extending skirt (28) and an access opening (26) through which a bronchoscope, catheter or other small diameter medical device may be inserted. The skirt (28) includes an inwardly extending rim (25) around its internal surface which detachably snaps over a lip (54) around the access port (53). The access opening (26) is selectively sealable by a second cap (30) that is tethered to the first cap (20) by a flexible tether strap (40). The second cap (30) also includes a downwardly extending skirt (36) including an inwardly extending rim (32) around its internal surface which detachably snaps over a lip (29) around the first cap (20). The capping device further includes a flexible anchor scrap (60) extending from the first cap (20) which snaps onto a knob (55) on the connector (50) thereby retaining the capping device (10) on the connector (50) when not in use.
