IN THE CANADIAN PATENT OFFICE Application for Patent Inventor: Robert M. Stepanek Owner: Pettibone Corporation Title: CAPS FOR HAMMERMILL ROTORS SECURED BY INDIVIDUALLY-REMOV- ABLE PAIRED PIN ASSEMBLIES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In this improvement on the same inventor's invention of Canadian Patent Application 326,296, split-spring bushing which do not need to be removed are used instead of the removable bolt-and-sleeve pin assemblies of the earlier form of the invention. The bushings are used in abutting pairs, each pair normally forming a pin securing the cap to -the arm or spider. To remove the cap, the pair of bushings is shifted axially to place the cleavage plane between the two bushings in the plane between the cap and the arm One of the bushings then stays in the arm, while the other is removed with the cap. The bushing thus removed can be pressed into the replacement cap, with care not to let it protrude into the space to be occupied by the arm. After the replacement cap is applied to the arm its bushing is driven in to its full depth, forcing the other bushing across the further plane between the arm and cap. The pair of bushings then form a pin assembly pinning the cap to the arm at both sides of the arm.
