A capsularhexis device (10) comprises a resistive-heating element (12) formed from an electrically resistive, superelastic wire (14) formed into a loop. A bare surface of this loop is applied to the anterior capsule and electrically heated to define a rhexis boundary, such that a smooth circular or oval capsule portion may be removed. In some embodi-ments, the superelastic wire is formed to include a loop, so that first and second ends of the wire are adjacent to one another and extend away from the loop to form a lead section. An electrically insulating material (17) may completely or partly surround the first and second ends of the wire so that the first and second ends of the superelastic wire are electrically separated. A handle (19) engages at least a portion of the lead section so that the loop-shaped heating element may be moved in and out of the anterior chamber.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de capsulorhexis (10), comprenant un élément à résistance chauffante (12), constitué d'un fil métallique super-élastique de type résistance électrique (14) en forme de boucle. La surface nue de cette boucle est appliquée sur la capsule antérieure et électriquement chauffée pour définir la limite du rhexis, de façon à ce qu'une partie lisse circulaire ou ovale de la capsule puisse être retirée. Dans certains modes de réalisation, le fil métallique super-élastique est conçu de façon à comprendre une boucle, si bien que la première et la seconde extrémité du fil métallique sont adjacentes l'une à lautre et se prolongent dans la direction opposée à la boucle pour former une partie avant. Un matériau électriquement isolant (17) peut entourer complètement ou partiellement la première et la seconde extrémité du fil métallique de façon à ce que ladite première et ladite seconde extrémité du fil métallique super-élastique soient isolées d'un point de vue électrique. Un manche (19) est fixé à au moins une portion de la partie avant de façon à pouvoir faire entrer ou sortir l'élément chauffant en forme de boucle de la chambre antérieure.
