ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A capsule body part having a generally cylindrical side wall, closed end and an open end, the diameter of the body part being reduced in the region of the open end, relative to the majority of the generally cylindrical side wall, is produced by forming an overlong capsule body part with excess length and with an annular circumferential ?ndentation in an area adjacent its open end, and then severing the excess material in the area of the indentation, thereby producing a capsule body part with an open end region of reduced diameter. Production is facilitated by an apparatus comprising an immersing pin adapted to be immersed into a bath of liquid which solidifies and forms the wall of the capsule body characterized in that the immersing pin is formed with a continuous recess spaced from its free end immersing into the bath.
