A bullet (10) comprised of a jacket (11) of malleable metal having a closed nose portion (13) and a rear end portion defined by a cylindrical wall, the closed nose portion having wall-weakening areas (22) encapsulating a forward core (21) made of a deformable material which promptly deforms, collapses axially, and expands radially to a substantial extent along with the weakened wall area, when the bullet strikes a target. These weakened wall (22) area are in the form of longitudinally extending, deep, internal or external, circumferentially spaced grooves with underlying web areas which are ruptured by the core material. This core is preferably made of rubber, urethane, silicone, or one of a substantial number of plastics, each of which has a hardness within a range of Shore A 20 to Rockwell 122. A second core (23), made primarily of metal or plastic, and preferably softer than the metal of the jacket, is seated, under pressure, behind the nose and within the rear end portion of the jacket.
L'invention concerne une balle (10) constituée d'une enveloppe (11) métallique malléable dotée d'une partie d'extrémité (13) avant fermée et d'une partie d'extrémité arrière définie par une paroi cylindrique, ladite partie d'extrémité avant fermée possédant des zones d'amaigrissement (22) de paroi qui encapsulent un noyau avant (21) constitué d'un matériau déformable qui se déforme rapidement, s'affaisse axialement, et s'étend sensiblement radialement le long desdites zones de paroi amaigries, lorsque la balle frappe une cible. Les zones de parois (22) amaigries se présentent sous la forme de rainures s'étendant longitudinalement, profondes, internes ou externes, espacées de manière circulaire, présentant des bandes sous-jacentes rompues par le matériau de noyau. Ce noyau est constitué, de préférence, de caoutchouc, d'uréthanne, de silicone, ou d'un plastique provenant d'un nombre substantiel de plastiques dont la dureté est comprise dans une plage entre 20 Shore A et 122 Rockwell. Un second noyau (23) constitué essentiellement de métal ou de plastique, et de préférence plus mou que le métal de l'enveloppe, est placé, sous pression, derrière l'avant et dans la partie d'extrémité arrière de ladite enveloppe.
