A novel polyester is provided comprising the reaction product of: (1) an acid functional polyester which is prepared from: (a) a dihydroxycarboxylic acid of structure (I), wherein X is a lower alkyl group having from about 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, and R and R' are independently lower alkylene groups having from about 1 to about 4 carbon atoms; (b) a polyol different from (a); and (c) a polyacid; and (2) a monoepoxide containing from about 3 to 20 carbon atoms. The reaction product is carbamoylated. The carbamoylated polyester can be present in a film-forming composition also having a carbamate functional acrylic polymer and an aminoplast cross-linking agent. Also such a film- forming composition can be a clear coat in a multi-component composite coating composition.

On décrit un nouveau polyester, lequel est un produit de réaction entre: (1) un polyester fonctionnel d'acide préparé à partir (a) d'un acide dihydroxycarboxylique possédant la structure (I) dans laquelle X représente un groupe alkyle inférieur possédant environ 1 à environ 4 atomes de carbone, et R et R' représentent indépendamment des groupes alkylène inférieur possédant environ 1 à environ 4 atomes de carbone, (b) d'un polyol différent de (a), et (c) d'un polyacide, et (2) un monoépoxyde contenant environ 3 à 20 atomes de carbone. Le produit de réaction est carbamoylé et le polyester carbamoylé peut être présent dans une composition de formation de film, laquelle comporte aussi un polymère acrylique fonctionnel à base de carbamate, de même qu'un agent de réticulation du type aminoplaste. Cette composition peut également constituer un revêtement transparent dans une composition de revêtement composite à plusieurs constituants.
