The invention provides carbamate-functional resins and coating compositions incorporating said resins that have improved adhesion with respect to subsequently applied films or coatings. More particularly, the invention relates to carbamate--functional addition polymers having at least 250 grams of polymer per carbamate group which are made with less than 35 percent by weight of nonfunctional monomers, preferably with less than 20 percent by weight and most preferably from 0 to less than 10 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the polymer. The invention further provides a method of making a carbamate-functional polymer and carbamate-functional polymers made by the claimed method. Finally, the invention provides a method for improving the adhesion of a first coating composition to a subsequently applied material as well as a method of making a composite comprising a coated substrate, an adhesive composition, and a glass having at least one surface.
L'invention se rapporte à des résines à fonctionnalité carbamate et à des compositions de revêtement contenant lesdites résines qui possèdent une capacité d'adhésion améliorée par rapport à des films ou revêtements appliqués ultérieurement. Plus particulièrement, l'invention se rapporte à des polymères d'addition à fonctionnalité carbamate contenant au moins 250 grammes de polymère par groupe carbamate qui sont faits de moins de 35 % en poids de monomères non fonctionnels, de préférence de moins de 20 % en poids et idéalement de 0 à 10 % en poids, par rapport au poids total du polymère. L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé de fabrication d'un polymère à fonctionnalité carbamate et à des polymères à fonctionnalité carbamate fabriqués selon le procédé décrit. Finalement, l'invention se rapporte à un procédé d'amélioration de l'adhésion d'une première composition de revêtement à une matière appliquée ultérieurement ainsi qu'à un procédé de fabrication d'un composite comportant un substrat recouvert, une composition adhésive et un verre présentant au moins une surface.
