One aspect of the present invention is concerned with a method of treating or preventing pulmonary inflammation as a complication ensuing from physical trauma, bacteraemia or viral infection, said method comprising enterally administering at least one or more glutathione promoters selected from: - 0.3- 20 g, preferably 0.5-5 g pyruvate equivalents; - 0.1-5 g, preferably 0.2-2 g oxaloacetate equivalents; - 0.01-1 g, preferably 0.02-0.5 g lipoic acid equivalents; and at least 20 g of digestible water soluble carbohydrates, in the form of an aqueous liquid composition containing at least 10 g/l of said digestible water soluble carbohydrates. Another aspect of the invention relates to an aqueous liquid composition suitable for enteral administration containing: - 2 to 20 wt.% digestible dissolved carbohydrates; - two or more glutathione promoters selected from: 0.5 to 50 g/l pyruvate equivalents; 0.05 to 20 g/l oxaloacetate equivalents; 0.05 to 5 g/l cystein equivalents; and at least 45 wt.% water.
Dans un de ses aspects, la présente invention se rapporte à une méthode de traitement ou de prévention des inflammations pulmonaires survenant en tant que complication à la suite d'un traumatisme physique, d'une bactériémie ou d'une infection virale, ladite méthode consistant à administrer par voie entérale au moins un ou plusieurs des promoteurs du glutathion sélectionnés parmi: 0,3 à 20 g, de préférence 0,5 à 5 g d'équivalents du pyruvate; 0,1 à 5 g, de préférence 0,2 à 2 g d'équivalents d'oxaloacétate; 0,01 à 1 g, de préférence 0,02 à 0,5 g d'équivalents d'acide lipoïque; et au moins 20 g de glucides solubles dans l'eau et digestibles, se présentant sous la forme d'une composition liquide aqueuse contenant au moins 10 g/l desdits glucides solubles dans l'eau et digestibles. Dans un autre de ses aspects, l'invention se rapporte à une composition liquide aqueuse convenant pour l'administration entérale et contenant: 2 à 20 % en poids de glucides dissous digestibles; au moins deux promoteurs du glutathion sélectionnés parmi: 0,5 à 50 g/l d'équivalents du pyruvate; 0,05 à 20 g/l d'équivalents d'oxaloacétate; 0,05 à 5 g/l d'équivalents de la cystéine; et au moins 45 % en poids d'eau.
