A tubular container made of carbon, constructed by connecting circular tube members made of carbon to each other using a screw section provided along the circumference of each end of a tube member. Gaps between the connection sections are sealed by a highly reliable method not causing cracks etc. to prevent leakage of raw material gas and molten silicon. The tubular container made of carbon is constructed in a multi-stage form by connecting circular tube members made of carbon to each other using a screw section provided along the circumference of each end of a tube member. The circular tube members connected to each other each have an annular flat surface radially extended from the inner wall surface so as to form a butting surface on the inner wall surface side when the connection is made. The sum of surface roughness (Ra) of the annular flat surfaces forming the butting surfaces is 1-100 µm.
