Procedure for making carbon blocks with high heat resistance, and specifically anodes for the production of aluminum via fused-salt electrolysis from a carbon aggregate which, after grinding and particle-sizing, is mixed with a pitch-based binder to form a paste which is densified and formed by compacting before being baked at a temperature over 900 degrees Celsius. The procedure is characterized by: regulation of the particle size of the carbon aggregate by grinding and sorting into three fractions: ultra-fine with a diameter less than 30 µm; sand, with diameter between 30 and 300 .mum.; granule, with diameter over 300 µm; and adjustment of the mass ratio of the granule (Gr) and sand (S) fractions such that Gr/S 4.

Le procédé de fabrication de blocs carbonés à haute résistance au choc thermique et notamment d'anodes pour la production d'aluminium par électrolyse ignée à partir d'un agrégat carboné qui, après broyage et classement granulométrique, est malaxé en présence d'un liant à base de brai pour former une pâte qui est densifiée et mise en forme par compactage avant d'être cuite à une température supérieure à 900°C, se caractérise par: - le réglage de la granulométrie dudit agrégat carboné par broyage et classement selon 3 fractions: ~ Ultra-fines, de diamètre de grain < 30 µm ~ Sable, de diamètre de grain compris entre 30 µm et 300 µm ~ Grain, de diamètre de grain > 300 µm - et l'ajustement du rapport pondéral des fractions Gr et S de telle sorte que Gr/S ~ 4.
