The present invention is directed to low toxicity boronated compounds and methods for their use in the treatment, visualization, and diagnosis of tumors. More specifically, the present invention is directed to low toxicity carborane-containing 5, 10,20-tetraphenylporphyrin compounds and methods for their use particularly in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of tumors of the brain, head, neck, and surrounding tissue. The invention is also directed to using these carborane-containing tetraphenyl porphyrin compounds to methods of tumor imaging and/or diagnosis such as MRI SPECT, or PET.
La présente invention concerne des composés borés de faible toxicité et des procédés d'utilisation de ceux-ci dans le traitement, la visualisation et le diagnostic de tumeurs. Plus précisément, la présente invention concerne des composés 5,10,20-tétraphénylporphyrines contenant un carborane, lesquels composés ont une faible toxicité, et des procédés d'utilisation de ceux-ci en particulier dans la thérapie de capture de neutron par le bore (BNCT) et la thérapie photodynamique (TPD) pour le traitement de tumeurs du cerveau, de la tête, du cou et des tissus environnants. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de ces composés tétraphénylporphyrines contenant un carborane dans des procédés d'imagerie et/ou de diagnostic de tumeurs tels que les procédés MRI, SPECT ou PET.
