ABSTRACT New carboxyalkylacyylamino acids which have the general formula Image and salts thereof, wherein R1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl- lower alkylene, hydroxy-lower alkylene, hydroxyphenyl-lower alkylene, amino-lower alkylene, lower alkylmercapto-lower al- kylene, imidazolyl-lower alkylene, indolyl-lower alkylene or carbamoyl-lower alkylene; R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R3 is lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkylene; R4 is hydroxy, lower al- koxy or hydroxyamino; and n is 1 or 2, are useful in alleviat- ing angiotensin dependent hypertension.
