A film of a carboxylated polymer of formula (I): wherein the sum of x, y and z is an integer from 10 to 10,000 and degree of hydrolysis is 0.05 or greater provides gas separation materials in which the degree of hydrolysis may be used to tune the selectivity of the gases to an optimal required range. Such films may be prepared by casting a film of a polymer of formula (II): wherein n is an integer from 10 to 10,000, and hydrolyzing all or a portion of the -CN groups to form -COOH groups.

L'invention porte sur un film d'un polymère carboxylé de formule (I) : la somme de x, y et z étant un entier de 10 à 10 000 et le degré d'hydrolyse étant supérieur ou égal à 0,05, fournit des matières de séparation de gaz dans lesquelles le degré d'hydrolyse peut être utilisé pour ajuster la sélectivité vis-à-vis des gaz dans une plage requise optimale. De tels films peuvent être préparés par moulage par coulée d'un film d'un polymère de formule (II) : n étant un entier de 10 à 10 000, et hydrolyse de la totalité ou une partie des groupes CN pour former des groupes COOH.
