ABSTRACT Designate Figure 3 The invention, provides a carburetor comprising a main body portion defining a carburetor air intake means (45); a throttle bore chamber (31); a choke bore chamber (30); a housing defining a first or metering chamber (15) and a second chamber (18a); a metering diaphragm (17) disposed between the metering chamber (15) and the second chamber (18a); a vent means for said second chamber (18); a fuel inlet valve (8) for enabling fuel to enter the metering chamber (15); control means for the inlet valve (8); and a fuel discharged means in fluid communication with the metering chamber (18a); the control means includes the metering diaphragm (17) so that, in use, movement of the diaphragm (17) in the housing in response to variations in pressure occurring in the metering chamber (15) and/or second chamber (18a) controls the rate of flow of fuel to the metering chamber (15). The vent means comprises an opening (51) providing fluid communication between the second chamber (18a) and the air intake means (45) so that, in use, venting of the second chamber (18a) is achieved solely by said opening (51).
