Disclosed is a carburizing apparatus for vacuum carburizing an object, which comprises a carburizing furnace for containing the object, a gas supplying device for supplying a carburizing gas into the carburizing furnace, a light-emitting device which emits light by using the gas inside the carburizing furnace supplied with the carburizing gas, a light-receiving device for receiving the light from the light-emitting device, and a processing device for calculating the composition of the gas inside the furnace based on the light reception of the light-receiving device.
