ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a hanger for hanging carcasses or the like comprising a yoke having a central portion and two end portions over which a part of a carcass may be hung; and a support means for the yoke including rope lengths. First and second rope lengths each have ends adapted for detachable connection with an end portion of the yoke to support the yoke in a first substantially horizontal plane. A third rope length has an end connected to the central portion of the yoke means and has slack therein when the ends of the first and second rope lengths are connected to respective end portions of the yoke. The amount of the slack is such that when an end of one of the first and second rope lengths is detached from the yoke means, the third rope length and the other of the first and second rope lengths support the yoke in a second plane substantially horizontal to the first plane.
