A card package assembly having a viewing window which is covered by a transparent, plastic window sheet or patch, allowing the viewer to see the card or a portion thereof while the plastic window patch protects the card against damage. In the card package assembly, a window piece of plastic is separated from an elongated plastic strip or web. The separated patch is adhered to the package sheet material to cover the cut-out window in the package sheet material. The invention further includes a method of manufacturing the card package assembly.
