Endocardial lead assemblies (10) are disclosed that may be particularly useful for placement within the coronary sinus. The lead assemblies may have open ends or closed ends. Lead assemblies having closed ends may be implanted using conventional implantation procedures. Lead assemblies having open ends may be implanted by first locating a stylet within the patient's body and, then, inserting the lead into the patient's body along the stylet. Each disclosed lead assembly uses one or more stents (40a, 40b) which expand to contact the inner surface of a body vessel once the lead has been properly positioned. Thus, the stents fix the lead at the desired location. Additionally, the stents may be used as electrodes for pacing and/or sensing.
La présente invention concerne des ensembles fil d'électrode endocardiaques (10) convenant particulièrement à l'implantation à l'intérieur du sinus coronaire. Les extrémités de ces ensembles fil d'électrode peuvent être ouvertes ou fermées. Les ensembles fil d'électrode à extrémités ouvertes se prêtent à l'implantation selon les procédures conventionnelles. Les ensembles fil d'électrode à extrémités fermées s'implantent en plaçant d'abord un stylet dans le corps du patient, puis en insérant le fil d'électrode dans le corps du patient, le long du stylet. Chacun des ensembles fil d'électrode de l'invention utilise un ou plusieurs extenseurs (40a, 40b) qui se déploient de façon à venir au contact de la surface d'un vaisseau du corps une fois que le fil d'électrode a été correctement mis en place. De cette façon, les extenseurs retiennent le fil d'électrode à l'endroit voulu. En outre, les extenseurs peuvent servir d'électrodes de stimulation et/ou de détection.
