Disclosed is a method for producing cardiomyocytes in vivo by administering to the heart of an individual a cardiomyocyte producing amount of mesenchymal stem cells. These cells can be administered as a liquid injectible or as a preparation of cells in a matrix which is or becomes solid or semi-solid. The cells can be genetically modified to enhance myocardial differentiation and integration. Also disclosed is a method for replacing cells ex vivo in a heart valve for implantation.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production de cardiomyocytes in vivo qui consiste à administrer dans le cour d'un individu un cardiomyocyte produisant une quantité de cellules souches mésenchymateuses. Ces cellules peuvent être administrées sous forme de liquide injectable ou de préparation de cellules dans une matrice qui est ou devient solide ou semi-solide. Les cellules peuvent être génétiquement modifiées de façon à améliorer la différenciation myocardique ou l'intégration. La présente invention concerne également un procédé de remplacement de cellules ex vivo dans une valvule cardiaque à des fins d'implantation.
